Originally from Zimbabwe, I have been living in New Zealand for over 11 years with my husband and two small daughters. I have a passion for science and the environment and enjoy all things outdoors. The community feel at Waitoki and the school’s small size has been a welcome atmosphere in which to start my teaching career. As a parent myself I value the time and energy put in by both parents and staff to tailor the learning experience to each child’s individual needs. My aim in the classroom is to develop a safe and supportive learning environment where each child feels included and has the opportunity to develop their unique talents.
Kia Ora my name is Verde. I have an Italian, South African heritage and my family has been living in New Zealand since 2015. I have an Honours degree in Marketing and Communications and after spending various years organising mass participation sporting events and working in corporate I decided to retrain and follow my life dream of being a teacher.
At present I am fortunate to be teaching alongside the Lovely Mrs D. I also teach at Coast Montessori in Silverdale. My daughters both attend Waitoki and our home is tucked away in the heart of Makarau. My family and I love the outdoors. I enjoy swimming, running and paddle boarding. I am passionate about the environment and I like to get my learners discovering the beauty of nature. I strive to create authentic learning experiences which require integrating various areas of the curriculum and using creativity and imagination. Our tamariki have incredible potential and I love tailoring learning experiences to suit their individual needs and learning styles. Nothing gives me more satisfaction than watching my learners blossom and become independent and enthusiastic learners.
