NITS / HEAD LICE
31 Aug 2026

NITS / HEAD LICE

Dear Parent/Caregiver,

We have been notified of a case of head lice in your child’s class and would be grateful if you could check your child’s hair and treat them if necessary.

Head lice can be a persistent problem and cause considerable frustration. To successfully manage and prevent the spread of head lice, it is important that all families remain vigilant and check regularly.

  • Please check your child’s hair TODAY.
  • Check your child’s hair carefully for head lice and nits (eggs).
  • Continue checking every 2 days until no head lice have been found for 10 consecutive days.
  • If you find head lice, please begin an effective treatment immediately and ensure you complete the full treatment process according to the instructions.
  • Treatments are available from your local chemist/pharmacy. Please follow the product instructions carefully.
  • Regular checking and early treatment are important in preventing head lice from spreading.
  • If your child has long hair, keeping it tied up while around others can help reduce the risk of spreading head lice.
  • Most importantly, please continue to check your child and family members regularly, even after treatment, to help prevent reinfestation.

Please see the attached notice for further information.

Thank you for your cooperation and support in helping us manage and prevent the spread of head lice.

Kind regards,
Waitoki School Office

Have your say about the future of Waitoki School!
27 Aug 2026

Kia ora whānau

Have your say about the future of Waitoki School. The Board will soon be developing the strategic direction for Waitoki School for 2027 - 2028. Community consultation is a key part of our commitment to ensuring that the school's vision, values, and goals reflect the aspirations of our students, whānau, and the wider Waitoki community, alongside implementing the New Zealand curriculum and embracing the unique culture of Aeoteroa. By working together, we can create a strategic plan that builds on our strengths and addresses the needs of our tamariki, ensuring they receive the best possible education and are well-prepared for the future.
To have your say, please complete this survey by Friday 11th September 2026.
